Annette Chamberlain will serve as associate principal at Elite Academy. The role is effective July 1. She is currently an assistant principal at Confluence Preparatory Academy for grades 9-12. She joined Confluence in 2012 as an instructional coach at Aspire Academy, when it was known as Confluence Academy-Walnut Park.
“The Board of Directors and I are pleased to announce Mrs. Chamberlain as associate principal of Elite Academy,” said Dr. Candice Carter-Oliver, chief executive officer.
“I’m an advocate for kids, and educating the whole child is essential. By that, I mean academically, socially and emotionally so the child is nurtured through a successful educational environment,” said Chamberlain.
“Mrs. Chamberlain possesses strengths in processes, procedures and strategic thinking. She holds high expectations of herself, staff and students. She brings experience in having worked with students at the secondary level and establishes effective relationships with staff and families,” said Carter-Oliver.
Chamberlain is a retired educator from East St. Louis School District 189 in 2012 after nearly 26 years of experience as assistant principal and principal. In 2010-2011, she was honored as Southwestern Illinois Principal’s Association Assistant Principal of the Year. She is a member of the Association of Secondary Curriculum and Development, Pi Delta Kappa, Delta Sigma Pi and Top Ladies of Distinction, East St. Louis Chapter.
History of Elite Academy, CPA
Elite Academy was established in 2015-2016 with 130 students in grades 7-8 who attended Confluence Academy-Walnut Park. In 2016-2017, Elite Academy expanded its program to include students from Confluence Academy-Old North. Elite Academy is on the third floor of CPA.
Confluence Preparatory Academy opened in 2008 at the Confluence Academy-South City campus. In 2009, CPA moved to downtown St. Louis, next to Central St. Louis Public Library.
