College Preparatory Academy | CPA²

The CPA College Preparatory Academy (CPA²) supports the academic and social needs of students who show high academic achievement and leadership potential. The CPA² program was developed to prepare CPA scholars to succeed in college and develop leadership skills that will enable them to positively impact their community.

 

The program’s mission is to ensure scholars in the CPA² program are academically, financially, and socially

prepared to successfully navigate To and Through College.

 

The vision for scholars in the CPA² program is to obtain the proficiency and efficacy that positions them to obtain postsecondary achievement in ways that have a positive impact in their life, community, and world.

 

ADMISSIONS

Selected participants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, must be proficient/advanced on two or more MAP assessments; have no significant discipline infractions; 90% attendance or higher; and teacher & administrator recommendations.

 

CURRICULUM

Students will be enrolled in rigorous college readiness coursework. The curriculum includes:

honors, advanced placement, dual credit and enrollment, and leadership classes.

 

THE DRESS CODE

Students must abide by the smart casual dress code by wearing a blue cardigan sweater or

vest, white oxford shirt, black tie, khaki or black dickies pants/skirts on designated days.

 

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

PLTW, National Honor Society, robotics, dance & cheerleading, student government,

leadership club, women of success, science club, choir, strings & jazz band.

SUMMER ACADEMY

Summer extended academy is mandatory for all college prep students. Students will engage in summer reading and participate in college visits and fairs. They will be introduced to career options and exposed to college prep courses. Students also will participate in the Summer Bridge Program. Students who do not attend the Summer Extended Academy will jeopardize their placement.

 

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Students are required to remain after school until 4:15 p.m. twice a week to receive tutoring in the core content classes. Tutoring sessions are mandatory for students whose grades fall below 80% in any course. During the school year, high school students are required to complete 20 hours of community service. Students also are expected to maintain good citizenship at school and in their community.

 

PROBATION & REMOVAL CRITERIA

Students must maintain the admission criteria throughout each school year to remain eligible to participate in the program. Students who fall below the admission criteria will be placed on academic probation. Two quarters of academic probation may result in withdrawal.
