The Missouri YMCA Youth and Government program is a unique and engaging opportunity for students to participate in a student-driven state government simulation. Our CPA students recently had the opportunity to participate in this program, and they did an amazing job. Their three-day trip to Jefferson City was filled with hard work, dedication, and a real sense of teamwork as they worked together to win one of their cases.
The program is designed to give students a hands-on understanding of how government works and to develop their critical thinking and leadership skills. Students are divided into different committees, where they work together to debate and pass bills, much like the real-life legislative process. Jennifer Luker, the sponsor for the trip said “Youth and Government was a wonderful opportunity for CPA students to meet new people, have new experiences, and use critical thinking skills."
Congratulations to these students for representing CPA in such a grand fashion: Diamond Foster, Angel Washington, Ta’Quirra Baker, Essence Fountain, Drayona Harris, and Henry Ross!
