Select Confluence Preparatory Academy students began learning about leadership in the DECA organization at an event at Tan-Tar-A resort in Osage Beach, Missouri in October.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in high schools and colleges for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. The DECA experience includes four interconnected components which brings classroom learning to life. DECA's educational program includes classroom instruction, applied learning, partnerships to businesses, and competition. The goal is to make sure students are college- and career-ready.
The keynote speaker at the Tan-Tar-A event included Joel Goldberg, former St. Louis Cardinals and current Kansas City Royals broadcaster. Students learned about competitive events, community service, and much more at the conference.
The DECA organization has more than 227,000 members around the world with 3,707 high school chapters and 206 collegiate chapters.
